Today I have been thinking about branding. Those of you whom have been with me since I started ruthlharding-im.com will know that it has been a long hard struggle for me to get this far. For three + years I have been trying to get an online income without spending any money. As much as that is the ideal for many of us, it really just hasn’t worked for me.
I have scrimped and saved and spent money on two coaching program; the first gut Steve LMC from the Warrior Forum lead several of us on a merry dance. What started out as free coaching quickly turned into a money pit. He left the so called ‘free’ training behind after a couple of weeks in favour of those of use who were really serious. OK, how does a self professed guru define ‘serious’? Quick answer, it’s about how much money you have to spend. If you are really serious you shouldn’t complain about forking out a couple of hundred here, another couple there, and to get the software that makes it all so much easier, spend another couple there.
TO make matters worse, Steve hired some of us to do work for him so that we would have money to pay for everything we needed if we were really serious. I wrote several review articles for him on ‘Waterfall Cardigans’. After responding and telling me that they were so good he was thinking of putting me on a retainer he then failed to pay m a dime for even one of the articles.
Several emails and several weeks later he was still telling me that the prblem was with his accounting people and by the way, how many articles was it that you wrote? Many weeks later when I saw that he was offering free training again on the Warrior Forum I emailed him and told him I was stunned that he was still offering free training when his first class didn’t get free training; and indeed, he had never paid me for five articles I wrote and he had use on his websites. He emailed me back and said that it was a mistake by his accountants and to give him information on what I had written and how much he owed, me. Sorry, been there, done that.
He still promotes free training on the Warrior Forum.
Next was David Bynon.Another Warrior Forum guru who offered free training to show us how he had made his millions. David was focusing on the recipe site nice and even had a plugin that would help us easily develop our cooking/recipe sites..but, as he was spending so much time teaching our small group and developing software he needed to start charging s for the software development as he had bills to pay. My, were we stupid. Right after taking a payment from us he disappeared from the planet.
Now you must understand that getting the money to pay these two was not easy. Not eating nutritiously, trying to eat less food so that your groceries will last i order to save money to pay these charlatans…..and they are still out there.
This was never meant to be a blog about Bring The Fresh, however, as each days goes by I see money coming in after I take action on their training. Yesterday it was $1.98 from adsense. Now that may seem like nothing to you but in over three years I have made a grand total of $32…..all in 0.10c here and 0.8c there. I implement BTF on a site and it makes $1.98!.
Which brings me back to what I have been doing today: I added all my sites (24) to Google Analytics. I also captured all my passwords and login in ID’s for the many sites I own and the sites I at which I am subscribed. Then I did a chart of all my sites and the steps needed to make hem into a BTF site.
Finally I started deleting site info and redoing posts and pages i the BTF fashion. If it works for Kelly, It will work for me; I am already seeing the results.
